SCOOTER MAINTENANCE. Now you own a Micro Scooter you will want to look after it. As it’s made from replaceable parts it can last a lifetime. Like a bicycle, it simply needs a small amount of TLC (Test, Look & Clean) on a regular basis to ensure it always runs smoothly.

3 WHEEL SCOOTERS:
  • WHEEL BEARINGS: The bearings on all Micro Scooters are “sealed for life” bearings and don’t need further maintenance. However, it is good practice to dry them if they have been used in wet conditions. If the wheels stop turning completely the bearings may need replacing or even the whole wheel if it is showing signs of wear and tear.
  • GRIP: Ensure your grips are in good condition, and that they are securely fitted to the handlebars. You can use warm water to clean the grips, but make sure to dry them thoroughly before putting your scooter away.
  • WHEELS: Check there isn’t anything stuck in the wheels before each journey. You should also clean the wheels regularly to keep them free from dirt and debris.
  • BRAKE: Check the brake is working effectively on a regular basis. Do this by pressing down on the brake, ensuring it stops the wheel from rotating.
  • NUTS & BOLTS: Regularly check all nuts and bolts are secure and in good condition. Many bolts used on Micro Scooters are hexagon ‘allen’ head type so to avoid damaging the bolt head, ensure the allen key fits firmly into the bolt.
  • GENERAL MAINTENANCE: Clean your scooter regularly, and make sure it’s thoroughly dry before putting it away. Avoid putting your scooter away damp as this can lead to corrosion of the metal parts.

2 WHEEL SCOOTERS:
  • FOLDING CLAMP: Check all folding clamp bolts are secure, taking care not to over tighten them. Spray around the clamp lightly with an oil based lubricant working it into the silver spring buttons to help keep them mechanism operating smoothly. Make sure to remove any surplus oil so as avoid dust which can be detrimental to any moving components.
